ADO.NET 3.5 Courseware in Visual Basic and C#

June 12, 2009. Object Innovations has released new and revised ADO.NET courseware using Visual Basic, targeting both Windows desktop and Web platforms:

• 4220, ADO.NET Using Visual Basic (3 days)
• 4221, ADO.NET for Web Applications Using Visual Basic (3 days)

The revised courseware incorporates three main enhancements:

• Updated to .NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008
• Covers Language Integrated Query (LINQ)
• Example program implemented in a multiple-tier architecture, with separate tiers for data access and user interface

Both Windows and Web client programs are provided. The courseware comes with separate lab manuals that have detailed instructions for labs implementing ADO.NET programs with Windows clients (course 4220) and Web clients (course 4221).

The courseware is designed to work with either SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server 2008 Express.

Parallel courseware using C# was released previously:

• 4120, ADO.NET Using C# (3 days)
• 4121, ADO.NET for Web Applications Using C# (3 days)

The previous versions of the courses targeting Windows desktops using Visual Studio 2005 remain available. The older courses have course numbers 413 and 423. The VB course targeting Web applications is a new course. A previous version of the C# course targeting Web applications has course number CS22.

Shipments of the revised courseware begin immediately.
