Major Revision of ASP.NET Courseware

October 9, 2008. Object Innovations has completed a major update to its ASP.NET courseware, available in parallel versions in C# and Visual Basic.

• 4140, ASP.NET Using C# (5 days)
• 4240, ASP.NET Using Visual Basic (5 days)

The revised courseware incorporates a number of important enhancements:

• Updated to .NET 3.5 and Visual Studio 2008
• New chapter introducing ASP.NET AJAX, which is included with ASP.NET 3.5
• Expanded coverage of database access, including introduction of Language Integrated Query (LINQ) and more sophisticated treatment of ADO.NET
• Coverage of new controls in ASP.NET 3.5, including ListView, DataPager and LinqDataSource
• Minor corrections and improvements

To make room for new material, some older material was dropped, including the chapter on ASP.NET Web Services (which is obsolescent with the release of Windows Communication Foundation), some comparisons of ASP with ASP.NET, an example of Windows authentication, and a demo of Web Parts.

The previous version of the courses running on Visual Studio 2005 remains available. (The older courses use three-digit course numbers 416 and 426.)

Shipments of the revised courseware begin immediately.
