Curriculum Simplification Continues with Updated XML/.NET Courses
May 23, 2007.
As discussed in our May 9 announcement of updated .NET courses,
Object Innovations has begun a comprehensive reorganization of its .NET curriculum.
Newly revised are our courses on XML programming using .NET:
The revised courses provide a separate lab track of Web example programs in a separate
Web Lab Manual, furnished as a PDF file along with the code in the course lab file.
- Example programs made appropriate to use in ASP.NET
- Breaks out XML and database code into separate classes and provides Web UI
- Provides more detailed lab instructions
The main lab track in the Student Guide uses console and Windows Forms programs. This revision
also fixes some minor typos and provides more detailed lab instructions in Chapters 1 and 2,
making an easier start of the course for less experienced students.
With the new revisions of 414 and 424, we are able to drop these courses:
- CS13, XML for Windows Applications Using C# (replacement: 414)
- CS23, XML for Web Applications Using C# (replacement:
414) with Web lab track
The Web lab tracks now enable us to provide fully parallel Visual Basic and C# courseware,
unlike the CSxx courses that were C# only.
We are also dropping the following CSxx courses. Indicated replacements are shown.
- CS11, Windows Clients Using C# (replacement:
415, exact equivalent)
- CS21, Web Clients Using C# and ASP.NET (replacement:
416, newer version)
- CS31, .NET Distributed Applications Using C# (replacement:
418, newer version)
For a complete list of courses we have recently dropped along with a suggested replacement course,
see our replacement courseware list.
Shipments of the new courseware begin immediately.
