Revised C# and Visual Basic Courseware from Object Innovations
May 26, 2006.
Completing a comprehensive update of its .NET core curriculum in C# and Visual Basic to .NET 2.0,
Object Innovations today released
revised five-day courses in C# and Visual Basic 2005.
The courses
are now current to .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005, seamlessly using the new environment throughout.
The updated courses are:
The courseware is designed to be fully accessible to programmers who do not already have a
strong background in object-oriented programming in languages such as C++ or Java.
The courses include coverage of important
new features in .NET 2.0 such as generic types. The new features are covered throughout the courses
in the context of where they are applicable.
A noteworthy feature of .NET 2.0 is the introduction of free versions of Visual Studio 2005,
including Visual C# 2005 Express Edition and Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition,
which are ideal for instructional purposes. These Express Editions are free downloads from
Microsoft. All the programming examples in both courses
have been tested in the new development environment.
The previous versions of the courses, which can be run using .NET 1.1 and
Visual Studio .NET 2003, remain available.
The Visual Basic course in particular was extensively revised. It now has greater depth
in object-oriented programming, including the use of interfaces, generic types and type-safe collections.
There is coverage of Windows Forms, including new controls introduced in .NET 2.0. The course
concludes with an introduction to database programming using ADO.NET with new data binding
features from .NET 2.0.
The C# and Visual Basic courses are part of Object Innovations’
comprehensive .NET curriculum.
Parallel tracks are offered in C# and Visual Basic. The diagram shows the core courses in
.NET programming using Visual Basic.

Shipments of the new courseware begin immediately.
