Updated XML Using .NET Courses from Object Innovations
February 9, 2006.
Continuing the update of its .NET curriculum to .NET 2.0, Object Innovations today released
revised four-day courses in XML programming using .NET. The courses include a case study demonstrating
the use of XML and .NET in a realistic eCommerce setting. They are now current to .NET 2.0 and
Visual Studio 2005.
The updated four-day courses are:
The content throughout the courses
has been thoroughly updated to use Visual Studio 2005 and .NET 2.0. New features in the
System.Xml namespace are explained in the context of where they occur in the courses. Also,
XML Schema receives more emphasis in the revised courses, including the use of Visual Studio 2005
to create and edit schema documents.
The previous courses covering XML programming in .NET 1.1 remain available.
A noteworthy feature of .NET 2.0 is the introduction of low-cost versions of Visual Studio,
including Visual C# 2005 Express Edition and Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition, which are ideal
for instructional purposes.
All the programming examples in both courses have been tested in the new development
environment. However, to get full benefit of the courses with the graphical schema editing
capabilities, Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition or higher should be used.
Shorter two-day courses covering XML parsing are also available:
The XML courses are part of Object Innovations’
comprehensive .NET curriculum.
Parallel tracks are offered in C# and Visual Basic. The diagram shows the core courses in
.NET programming using C#.

Object Innovations also has an extensive
XML curriculum.
Courses are offered in XML fundamentals, XML Schema and XSLT. Programming courses using
XML are offered using Java as well as C# and Visual Basic .NET. A
new course on XSLFO
introduces the eXtensible Stylesheet Language, or XSL, also known as
XSL with Formatting Objects or XSLFO.
Shipments of the new courseware begin immediately.
