Updated .NET/XML Courseware from Object Innovations
December 8, 2004.
Object Innovations today announced a major revision of its course
441, "XML Parsing Using C# and .NET".
The new revsion consists of the first
two days of the forthcoming four-day core course
414, XML Programming Using C# and .NET".
The principal changes include:
- Introduction of a progressive case study, which is also continued
in the last two days of course 414. Programs of this case study replace a number of
examples and labs from the previous version.
- More explanation and examples of parsing, providing a framework to make it easy
for students to write parsers for their own XML documents.
An attempt is made to do this very carefully both for stream-based and DOM parsing.
- More coverage of validation, which is now in a separate chapter.
There is a self-contained introduction to DTDs. An example program provides
a GUI tool for validating using either DTDs or schemas.
(XML Schema is covered in the third day of the four-day course.)
The GUI validation tool is part of Object Innovations' effort to provide
up-to-date XML tools to facilitate learning XML. It runs on any platform
supporting the .NET Common Language Runtime.

The updated courseware is part of Object Innovations' comprehensive
XML curriculum, which includes
courses in XML programming using Java as well as .NET, and Core XML courses that are
independent of platform. Courses are available in both C# and VB.NET. The Core XML courses
have also been
recently updated.
Shipment of the new courseware begins immediately.
