Object Innovations' Java Web Applications Curriculum Finalized for J2EE 1.4
December 16, 2003. New releases of Object Innovations' courses in Java Web application development are updated to the final specifications and tools for J2EE 1.4.
"Our whole J2EE curriculum has been up to date with J2EE 1.4 in theory for over a year now," said Will Provost, OI's Java Curriculum Coordinator, "but we've been waiting for a long time for the specs, and especially the reference implementations, to finalize. These revisions simply support the final, stable release of Tomcat 5, and represent the final step in our effort to facilitate training in the next generation of Java Web development techniques."
Provost is most excited about the new JSP 2.0 specification, which encourages a "scriptless" page-authoring style that is dramatically different from the Java-heavy pages typically created under JSP 1.x.
Fresh releases include:
- Course 109, "JavaServer Pages," which includes both JSP 2.0 and the JSP Standard Tag Library 1.0
- Course 110, "Java Servlets," which supports Servlets 2.4
- Course 112, "Introduction to JavaServer pages," which supports JSP 2.0
- Course 113, "The JSP Standard Tag Library," which supports JSTL 1.0
- The new Course 114, "Jakarta Struts," an advanced Web-development course built on Servlets, JSP, and the Struts framework.
All five courses are available immediately. Also stay tuned for the final revisions of OI's EJB and Web-services courseware, expected in early January.
