Object Innovations Announces New Course on Jakarta Struts
December 16, 2003. Object Innovations today releases a new one-week course on Java Web application development using the open-source Struts project. Struts provides a Model-View-Controller request-mapping framework over Java Servlets and JSPs, which helps developers organize their application logic into controller components ("actions") and JSPs as views. (This is also known as the "Model 2 Architecture.")
The new course takes experienced servlet/JSP developers into the Struts framework in depth, providing plenty of hands-on exercise in action mappings, form beans, Struts custom tags, validation, and the Tiles view-building framework that is now bundled with Struts. It also covers topics related to Struts development such as the JSP Standard Tag Library (JSTL), logging, and internationalization/localization.
The course covers the latest version of Struts (1.1), and students develop in-class exercises for Tomcat 5.0. See the course outline for details.
